Linda Eads, Associate Professor of Law at the Dedman School of Law, joined the SMU faculty in 1986. She earned a B.A. degree from American University and a J.D. degree from the University of Texas at Austin. She teaches and writes in the areas of evidence, legal ethics, constitutional law and women and the law. She has co-authored a student guide on constitutional law. Professor Eads served as associate provost and as director of the Hunt Leadership Scholars Program in 2011-2016. From 1999-2000, she served as Deputy Attorney General for Litigation for the State of Texas, supervising over 300 of the state's lawyers. At SMU she has received the law school's Don Smart Teaching Award four times, as well as the University Scholar/Teacher of the Year Award and the Golden Mustang Teaching Award. She was named to the American Law Institute and named one of Texas' top women lawyers. In 2007, she received the State Bar's President's Award. Prior to SMU, she was a trial attorney with the Tax Division of the U.S. Department of Justice, where she received the U.S. Attorney General's Special Commendation Award, among other recognitions. She retires as Professor Emerita of Law.
